Fancy yourself as a writer? Each week, we’ll release a few student stories about the student athletic experience in a column called Friday Night Writes. We’ll send this out to subscribers, like you, on our weekly newsletter and social media pages.

We’re looking for stories that showcase what it means to be a GameChange Athlete. This might be a story about overcoming adversity – be it a losing streak, sitting on the bench, or even negative self-talk before games; a time you were inspired by a teammate, coach, competitor, or someone else; or even a time that you took a risk, regardless of the outcome.

Please keep your story to 350 to 700 words in length! You can send them to our co-founder, Jack Baric at jbaric@gamechangenation.com

FAQ

What’s next?
  • We will regularly select one story to be featured as the top story in “The Word” section of the home page of our website, GameChangeNation.com and in our email newsletter to our subscribers.
  • If your story is selected, you’ll get some awesome GameChange merchandise so you can Rep the Nation. We’ll reach out to get your shipping information. After receiving the gear (hoodie, cap, t-shirt) we will ask you to take a picture with it to be used as the photo that goes on our social media pages with links to the story.
  • We will also include a letter authenticating you as a published content contributor, which you will be able to put on your college application and/or job resumes.
  • Be human! Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable and tell us about yourself. We’re not looking for stories about perfect people, but people who have worked to overcome their weaknesses.
  • Put us right in the story from the beginning, then let us know who you are. Feel free to be creative, but try to give us a good idea of your sport, team, school, and the moment you were in when it happened.
  • Example: I’m walking through the handshake line and I can’t move fast enough. I just blew two free throws that cost my team the game and I just want to get in the locker room and hide. My name is Bella Smith and I’m currently a sophomore guard on the University of Wyoming basketball team. The game I’m referring to was during my junior season in high school. It was a tough game in a tough season…
